Transfer An Existing Service
Some items for your consideration:
If you will be a new LEC member, a completed Member Information Form will need to be returned to LEC. Please complete the first page of the form, then sign and date the second page. If it is to be a joint account, please have both new members complete their information and provide a signature. Keep in mind that we will be able to discuss the account only with the member(s) who have submitted their information and signature on the Member Information Form.
For any new or additional service, LEC will need to evaluate your credit basis to determine advance payment requirements. If no good credit history can be established, an advance payment will be required to activate the existing service. This advance payment will be twice the highest bill or $100, whichever is greater. After you have established 12 months of good payment history with LEC, this advance payment will be refunded as a credit to your account. If you are being assessed an advance payment, you may want to consider participating in our Pay As You Go program.
If the service you wish to transfer has been on line retention for 12 months or longer, you may be required to provide LEC with proof of a State of Montana electrical permit and inspection prior to the service being re-energized.
Once all paperwork and payments have been received by LEC, we will process the transfer as of the date given to us by the members. We are normally able to back-date transfers within a reasonable time frame; however, we are unable to accommodate any request for a transfer date prior to the start date of the current billing cycle (the first of the current month).
